Make an origami peace crane chain. I first saw these chains at a small shrine at the base of Fushimiinari in Kyoto, Japan. They are so pretty!
You will need: 30-50 pieces of origami paper
scissors
one bead
long needle
thread
I am using 3x3 inch paper, but you can use any size. You can even cut down regular notebook paper; just keep the proportions square.
Make all of the cranes, 30-50 of them, depending on how long you want the final chain.
Arrange them by color if you wish, but randomly ordering the cranes would probably look really cool, too. I chose a rainbow color scheme.
Thread your needle. String the bead and tie a knot in the thread. Make sure to choose a needle long enough to fit through the crane's body, and choose a bead with a hole big enough to fit the needle through.
String the cranes. The needle should go into the middle/bottom of the body and up through the pointed top part of the body.
Once all the cranes are on the thread, take the time to neaten them up. Face all the heads in the same direction. Snug the cranes together. Each crane should sit between the wings of the crane below it.
Tie a loop at the top of the string.
Hang the finished chain in a window, on a bed post, a door frame...
Enjoy the colors of your creation. Feel at peace.
