Kinetic Kouture

Last night was the Rutabaga Royal Family's 5th Annual Kinetic Kouture fundraiser to benefit the much-loved Kinetic Grand Championship that happens along the Humboldt Coast at the beginning of every summer. At this unique fashion event, participants create fashions with recycled, repurposed items such as discarded clothing and trash.  This year, I went to practice my runway photography skills.  It's not that easy to capture a good pic of a person in motion without simultaneously blinding them with flash!  Here are the results:

The reigning trashionista in her fur coat made of stuffed animals.

Awesome upcycled denim corset (I want it!) with trash bag skirt and denim hand bag.

Dress and mask of reflective solar stuff.  I forget the name, but it is much lighter than aluminum foil.
Second place winner of a role of duct tape.

Dress of bubble-lined manila envelopes.

First place trophy winner!
Flower dress and hat made of plastic liner, various colorful chip and candy wrappers, and plastic tree leaves.

Marie Antoinette look made of newspaper, cardboard, and duct tape.

Littlest trashionista in an upcycled dress.

Two of the judges pose with the trophy.

 FOR THE GLORY!
